AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER
March 20th, 2006
When you are in a job search, you sometimes feel like it is YOU against the rest of the world! Looking for a new job can be frustrating, really tug at your self-esteem and can be a lonely experience. That is why I’m suggesting you find an accountability partner.
It is easy to slack on your job seeking activities because you are tired of rejection, or just don’t know what to do next. Your accountability partner needs to have the following information:
1. How many resumes you send out each day
2. How many follow-up calls you make each day
3. How many new targets you identify each day
4. How many new sources you identify to assist your job search each week
5. How many face-to-face interviews you do each week
6. How many networking events or job fairs you will attend each month
This person will help motivate you and hold you accountable. They will share in your successes and understand your failures.
If you want to really turbo charge your job search, fill out an action frame of your activities for the week and send a copy of your partner. You now have a roadmap for the entire week! Job Searching is very much like SALES. It’s a numbers game. You must make new contacts every day and when you get a high level of activity going - you will be amazed when you receive MORE than one JOB OFFER!
Good luck in your search…..Barb Bruno
