THANK YOU NOTES!
February 15th, 2006
A simple thank you note can have a very positive impact on a hiring authority. With the majority of job seekers communicating via email, a handwritten thank you note, really sets you apart from other candidates.
You should send a thank you note to every person you interacted with during the process. This includes the initial person who greeted you and gave you an application to complete.
Some tips on thank you notes…
1. Make sure you have the correct spelling and title of your contact
2. Handwrite the envelope - it is more personal
3. Write “personal and confidential” on the bottom left corner - to make sure no one else opens your note!
4. Check and double check your note for spelling and grammar errors
5. Stress your interest and confidence in the position
6. Include a “time frame” when you will call back, to open the door for a follow-up call from you
One of the best purchases you could make is to go to a discounted card shop and purchase packages of thank you notes. Thank you cards will provide you with an outstanding return on your investment.
